The department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AD) was introduced in the year 2021. As a specialized branch of the global technology, the B.Tech degree in “Artificial Intelligence and Data Science” has a huge scope of growth with ample opportunities to make a mark. The term ‘artificial intelligence’ means a machine-based system that can, for a given set of human-defined objectives, make predictions, recommendations or decisions influencing real or virtual environments. The explosion of computerized information on the internet, in data warehouses, and from physical sensory artifacts has also created large-scale problems for AI research. While AI was a topic studied inside departments such as Computer science, the creation of this new department allows bringing together AI knowledge from multiple perspectives: Computer science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Biomedical Engineering etc into unified program offerings. Artificial Intelligence is a research field that studies how to realize the intelligent human behaviors on a computer. The ultimate goal of AI is to make a computer that can learn, plan, and solve problems autonomously. Data science is the domain of study that deals with vast volumes of data using modern tools and techniques to find unseen patterns, derive meaningful information, and make business decisions. Data science uses complex machine learning algorithms to build predictive models. The future scope of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science continues to grow due to new job roles and advancements. The various roles includes AI Analysts and Developers, AI Engineer and Scientist, Data Scientist / Engineer, AI researcher, AI Algorithms Expert, Robotics specialist etc.
